Water Saving Contest – Save water and win!

Water Saving Contest

Water saving contest in November – participate and win a gift card!

In November, a water saving contest kicks off with the goal of using water as sparingly as possible! The Kuopas housing location with the lowest water consumption per tenant at the end of the month will win the contest.

This is how the contest works:

  • The aim is to reduce water consumption throughout November through small, everyday actions that reflect in the entire housing location’s water usage. Every saved liter brings your location closer to winning!
  • To enter the drawing for individual prizes, you must complete a survey at the end of November and share how you managed to reduce your water consumption during the month. We’ll send the survey link later in November.
  • After the contest, we will announce the winning housing location and award gift cards to individuals who shared the best water-saving tips.
  • Midway through the month, we’ll release half time information on water consumption among the housing locations.

Participation prizes:

  • Among the three housing locations with the lowest water usage, we’ll select the five best comments from the survey responses. Each winner will receive a 50 € S-Group gift card.
  • Additionally, we will choose three top responses across all locations to also receive 50 € gift cards.

Water-Saving Contest 2024 – Small Actions, Big Impact

The Kuopas November Water-Saving Contest has come to an end. The competition sparked great interest among tenants, and we received fantastic tips on how to reduce water consumption in everyday life!

The goal of the competition was to encourage our tenants to pay attention to their water use and reflect on how small actions can help reduce environmental impact.

Contest Winners and Water Consumption Improvements

The top three properties with the lowest water consumption (liters/day/tenant) were:

  1. Niiralankatu 23 – 120 l/day/tenant
  2. Kuntokuja 2 – 123 l/day/tenant
  3. Ahkiotie 8 – 124 l/say/tenant

During the contest, several housing locations showed significant improvements in water consumption compared to November of last year. Here are a few examples:

  • Niiralankatu 23 reduced their consumption by 15 liters/day/tenant.
  • Kuntokuja 2 stood out by reducing water use by 24 liters/day/tenant.
  • Myllärintie 57 improved by 12 liters/day/tenant.

While not all properties achieved significant savings, many tenants made noticeable changes in their daily routines. The motivation to reduce water consumption was also evident in the tips and comments submitted by participants.

Active Participation by Tenants

The contest received an impressive 227 responses from our tenants – a huge thank you to each and every one of you! We asked tenants to share their best water-saving tips, and the number of responses exceeded expectations, showing both serious and creative approaches to reducing water consumption.

Particularly insightful and practical tips included:

  • Reusing water for plants: “I collect cold water in a bucket at the start of my shower and use it to water the plants.” or “I save the water used to rinse vegetables and use it for my plants.”
  • Shower habits: “I taught myself to turn off the tap while soaping up in the shower.” or “I adjusted the shower water to a cooler temperature and started showering faster.”
  • Water-saving as a game: “We held a shower-time contest: who can take the fastest shower!”
  • Dishwashing efficiency: “I stopped rinsing dishes under running water. I wash them in one sink and rinse in another.” or “I only run full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine. It saves both water and electricity.”
  • Checking for leaks: “I checked all taps and reported any leaks to maintenance immediately. Even small leaks can waste a lot of water.”
  • Broader perspective on water use: “Water-saving is part of responsible consumption in all areas of life – I choose products that use less water in their production process.”

Many tenants also mentioned that the contest inspired them to think about their water use over the long term and look for ways to reduce consumption in their daily lives.

Positive Results and Hopes for the Future

The water-saving contest produced tangible results, and the enthusiasm and active participation of tenants made the campaign a success. Several responses also expressed a desire for similar contests and environmental themes in the future:

“This was a great way to raise awareness about water consumption. I hope similar campaigns will be organized again!”

A Big Thank You to All Participants! 💚

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every tenant who participated in the contest or reflected on their water consumption during November. Small actions, such as shorter and cooler showers, turning off taps, and reusing water, can help us collectively save water and support a more sustainable lifestyle.

Let’s make water-saving a permanent part of our daily routines! 🌍💧
